Memoir of Rati

Rati accompanies his father to Siam, where he will serve as his interpreter. While there, he meets Thee, whom he initially mistakes for a commoner.

After first meeting one another, Theerathon and Rati feel an immediate connection and begin spending time together. Talk of their recent closeness soon reaches the ears of Thee's grandmother Nareerat who pushes to have him married.

Because of their clashing class statuses, Rati, the son of a commoner, contemplates distancing himself from high-status Thee. When Rati begins showing Thee indifference, Thee's hurt. He knows well that he cannot choose who to love.

Rati draws the attention of Prince Krom after he cleverly deals with Prince Ruj's harassment during the French lesson. Dech challenges Mek to a boxing rematch.

Thee and Rati discuss the rumors about Thee's sexuality. Dech offers to teach Mek French in exchange for Muay Thai lessons.

For the Loi Prateep festival, Thee invites Rati to float lanterns with him, forbidding him from going with anyone else. However, Thee has been ordered to take Pha. Rati keeps his promise and waits for Thee at the pier.

For his work, Rati is given an elevated title and Thee is hopeful for their future together. However, his father is making arrangements for Thee's marriage to Yingpa.

Dech is flustered after he finds himself unable to resist kissing Mek, and he attempts to brush it off. Meanwhile, Thee is agitated when he finds himself challenged —not just in chess, but in love— as Sadej Mai takes special interest in Rati.

To protect the family's reputation, Thee's grandmother gives Rati an ultimatum. Meanwhile, despite fearing the loss of their friendship, Dech decides to confess to Mek. However, Dech's father has put Mek in a position where he has no choice but to reject him.

Love all around seems to be in a downward spiral. It's with Thee and Yingpa's engagement ceremony that real doubt is seeded in Rati. Out of fear for Mek, Decha asks him to run away with him, but he isn't fast enough.

The wedding between Thee and Ying Pha is still on. All Thee and Rati have is each other in their sacred place until the day comes when they have to separate. When that day comes, Rati bestows on Thee a memoir.

Before they have to part, Thee and Rati swear to each other their feelings will never fade. Mek and Dech, too, go their separate ways, growing in their careers. Though he thought he believed he'd accepted their fates, when Rati returns to Siam and sees Thee in a happy little family, it hurts.
